Ahead of my planned trip to the French med I need to prep the bike (and rider!). One of the things on the list is masking off the beams of the headlight(s) to prevent dazzling oncoming traffic whilst driving on the right. Do I need to mask both units or just the dipped left hand light and does anyone have a drawing/picture of the shape and size of the mask. I was considering using Duct tape either black or silver.
Thanks

Must admit, I've never bothered, but I guess it depends how long you're going for and whether you'll be doing much/any riding at night. Headlight on during daytime is unlikely to cause problems for other motorists I would think.

With lots of people using them silly dazzly blindy lights these days I doubt it will make any difference. It seems to be a case of "I'm alroight Jack".

I tried putting an overlay over the mkI once using a proper headloight beamy machine thing and it was a complete pain. Not sure how the 9'ers are set up.

Beware anything you stick to a hot headlight may melt and cause a big mess.

Seems like I dont need to bother, although I will have the Duct tape in the camping gear. You can fix most things with cable ties and Duct tape!!
Thanks for the replies.

Never bothered either. I got flashed occasionally, but I that happens in the UK as well. I think it's because cage drivers deem something's wrong with your headlight if only one side is on. My dad thought the same.

Don't worry mate. I lived there, and never changed any of my bike lights. As there is no MOT for bikes the police will not check them as, in fact they are not to bothered as long as the vehicle is in roadworthy condition, brakes, lights, tyres etc.

The speed cameras are usually front facing, so if you get caught by one you will be ok. People do warn you if they have rader guns, make sure the police do not see you, warning others as it is illegal.

If you go peage make sure you go in the bike kiosk as some are free. You can also stop overnight in service stations for free.

Dont forget to take a hi-viz vest for each passenger

Have a good holiday
