It's the same route but clockwise. The idea being............................
Leave Aviemore around 9.30, get to The Glenlivet Distillary around 10.15/10.30, stay for 1.5 hours (allowing a possible wait for 30 mins for the next tour). Glenlivet to Alford for lunch between 12.30/1.00 - there's a cafe at the Grampian Motor Museum
Head down to Braemar around 3 o'clock for afternoon tea (scones, jam and cake for ol' Johnny W

South over Glen Shee to Pitlochry. If we've time on our hands we can head back to Aviemore via the back roads and some of the A9 or get back directly on the A9 to the pub in less than an hour
First round in about 5.30/6.00

OK, now are you sure this is your final route?
Well, what I'll try and do is meet you as you are coming away from the Glenlivet distillery and probably travel along to Braemar with you. Have a function to get back to in Aberdeen on Saturday night so will have to see how it goes.
If I'm late or have missed you - don't wait - I'm sure you won't - I'll see you somewhere on the route.

The better option - a) the whisky* and b) more fun going down the Devil's Elbow than up - esp. tanked up on malts. Mind you, it's possible to have a bit too much excitement, as an uncle of mine had many years ago when the brakes on his old Ford failed going down the 1:4 hairpin. Fortunately it was in the days when car doors had the hinges at the back, so in the prevailing wind (!) he had 4 "airbrakes"

*You'll all be keeping a check on "fuel" consumption this trip, I hope - in mpg (miles per gill)?

You are long in the tooth Pict, Devils Elbow has been gone for nearly 30 years! That road is good for 120mph now. Or so I'm told, officer.

Jaysus look at the time, better nip home and pick up the bike. Oooh look sunshine! Its gonna be a good weekend!

Yup - check out the avatar! I've been down the "revised" (obliterated) Elbow but wasn't aware the whole road south had been ironed flat. Sad, but at least I still have the memories - it was a cracker on a bike.
