Hi folks, hope ye don't mind if I pick your brains for some help.

I spotted a damp patch behind what I assume is the water pump on my 2003 900.

I cleaned it, used the bike for a few days and it has come back. Pretty sure it's Oil, not water, but it is barely a seep, just enough to dampen the casing... so far.

Oil level has not dropped and bike is running fine.

Just wondering has anyone else experienced this? Is it an easy or expensive fix? Could I do it myself? I am handy enough, I can do servicing, change headrace bearings, fork seals, clutches, service calipers etc so just wondering what you guys think? Also, any source for a manual online?

Cheeers,
Fergie.

Mods, Apologies if there is already a thread on this, I had a nosey around and couldn't find one.

JBX's site is your best bet for documentation, you'll need to register but it's free
http://jbx9.free.fr/tdm/index.php

Don't recall anyone having this problem in the past so probably not a lot of info on it here.

Head to JBX's site sign up (for free) and download yer manuals

U should be able to replace seal once you popped off water pump....

but....

have had few issues with corroded bolts etc on removing 8fiddy water pumps, so perhaps soak what you can get to with PlusGas fer couple days before doing anything

the 'give it a squirt everytime you go past bike' technique always works best for me
Done: Homo sap navigation/ twisty thing on bars to make it go vroom/ grabby thing to make it stop (in front of twisty thing)/ 'leccy things front and rear to make it glow at night/ Sucky + drippy oiler thing to keep chains moist (!!) / Laser Pro Stock Race pipes / bleeding ear drums (see previous mod)
To do: Educate homo sap nav system to operate twisty + grabby things/ get ear plugs

All Trashed Now... Pants... its a Cat B Mwahahaha it lives again!!

Remember every driver is a deaf myoptic twat who is out to kill you, ALWAYS assume they are going to do THE most f*cking DUMBASS, STUPID manouver possible, at the worst possible moment; get past, and get past quick

I think Geordie Guy and Treadman both had water pump failure, but they were catastrophic, explosive failures, rather than weeps like this.
