Only had 850 carb models before but finally got an injected 900 last November but only just started to ride it as weather been crap up here in Cumbria. Anyway when I shut off then open it up again at lowish speed the bike jerks forward quite dramatically. Nearly threw me off and feels like it could snap the chain!! Could it be the injectors?? As I said no prev experience of them so info appreciated. Cheers

They can be a bit like that. I have fitted a Dobeck TFI unit, after reading other having good results, that makes the world of a difference. The other way could be to install a resistor inline with the O2 sensor to richen the mixture up a little to smooth the throttle response.

Start with a throttle body balance. Can make a difference.

Sorry I was assuming that the basic stuff like that had been checked.

Thanks for comments lads. I'll start with the throttle slides. Its definitely not running as smooth as I would have expected and certainly not as well as my previous 850's. Cheers

check your chain adjustment too, and try to be more gentle while twisting the wrist, I find a bit of finesse with the clutch and throttle goes a long way in controlling snatchiness

when doing the throttle bodies aim for the highest vacuum in both, this seems to work. be sure not to overtighten chain, 50-60mm is the amount of slack needed.

All of the above... make sure it can run as OEM (Yamaha) intended, and then (if you're still not happy) the Dobeck/Techlusion TFI-1025 with the O2 sensor removed/bypassed... you can tame the TDM900 into a very well behaved machine. AND, It's well worth it.

Also check throttle cable free play or (with your physician) that you don't have the Parkinson's disease.

Jerkiness can be fixed very easily within minutes and without expense.
