As anyone heard off, or maybe fixed onto their bike, a set of hand guards. I’ve looked and there are quite a few designs and fixing possibilities. I remember looking at my mates KTM not so long ago and thinking maybe I could do somut with them. I had forgotten till I went out on a great biking relieve ride today but suffered the cold wind on my hands. Besides the heated grips i still have to fit i wondered if it was possible to fit a pair they would help alot.

use the search, Luke wink.gif

there's a number of folks on here that fitted handguards. The most popular seem to be Kedo's and BMW GS models. I haven't heard of anyone trying the KTM ones yet, but it sounds like an interesting project good.gif

You always worry that your a crackpot when in fact your normal. I’m so glad I found this place of mutual digression.. Ok, so I’m not alone. I went to your link and now onto many others... price for these add ons is up and down but I think a little credible research and fortitude should in the next couple of days cultivate in my quest.. but first .. Just for the record (Though BMW seem to be the guards of choice) didn't someone fit Suzi V-Strom ones recently, if a bit plasticky? Also for the record, I've got approx. 1 cm longer (TRX) bar ends and it seems the BMW guards would still fit - maybe even better than with std. ends?

If you don't want to tap the bar end weights, get some of these.
It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got.

Interesting, though there's something a bit uncomfortable about guards described as "cutting edge hand protection" - I can't quite put my finger on it. blink.gif

Your local BMW dealer should be able to get them for you - I paid £35 for mine 12 months ago and then £5 to a local engineering shop to drill and tap the bar ends. Add in the heated grips you've already got and you'll be toasty warm all year round!

even without the heated grips. Ever since I fitted the hand guards I haven't ridden a km without my ventilated summer gloves good.gif . Today was the first time that my finger tips suffered from the cold a little (but only after 30-40km).

we have BMW dealer in shipley, yorkshire, that may stock or get them for me. i`m just hoping they are open tommorow. Any modifications will be no problem if necessary, i supply to many a competent engineer. I got to say that i`ve got more info off this site in the last month than i have ever got in a life time of biker mates who profess to knowing all that is to know about any bike. I was all in for dumping me TDM for a Pan i never really wanted because i was told ..You cant , it wont, its not poss on TDM`s what you need is Blah! blah!..
I`ve been rebuilding me Yami XS 250 for 2 yrs , wish i`d have had this sort of info at hand, by that i mean instant info.

Hmm... does might look handy for me. The low ABM steering bar disables the use of the BMW handguards as well as the KTM ones (if they would fit at all). These Cycra guards seem slimmer, simpler and made for straight handlebars anyway. Anybody knows if there's a (online) shop in Europe as well?

I had the exact same problem as I have adjustable bars, set to as low and forward as possible. These are a doddle to fit and I like the idea of my hands not being 'enclosed' in the event of an accident. sad.gif

They could be a little larger though for warmth - I have also taped over the ventilation holes with some Hi Viz tape to stop the draught!. There are some with rubber bits round the outside which claim to offer 20% more protection but I haven't found them in Europe.

I got mine from a chap on Ebay, not knowing the make at the time. I'm very pleased with them good.gif
