Helloooooo

Its never really bothered me not having a center stand, I just managed without. However, my dad prefers to have them and as he's just got himself a nice yellow/silver MK2 without one, he's looking to make one himself.

So, this begs the question, Would anyone with a center stand fit to a MK2 be kind enough to take some pics and do some measuring for us?

I have quite a few pictures that I've been able to gather from the net and Carpe but could do with some measurements to get size's right.

I believe there are also 2 brackets which come down for the stand which fit behind the footpeg brackets. This measurement would be to most useful.

Thanks

He's on about engine bars next, luckily he has mine to copy from !

Oh and if we get it right, and there's no infringement on design patents bla bla bla. We could possibly make these and sell them.

Although my Dad now has his own property maintenance company, he has over 20 years of experience in metal fabrication & engineering.

I'd be interested in a stand if you make a few - don't have one so can't send dimensions...

Have a look at Rathawks postings, he's got Renntec to make some for him (us), he needs ten orders (to date he's a few short IIRC) and I wonder if you would consider pitching in with his deal? He seems to have put a lot of effort into it.

Just saying.

For the crash bars I'd be happy too, As I say, I have Rentec ones and I know there good quality but the uptake of the bulk seems to have stalled.

I've posted on there, but I don't want to pay money to Rentec, and end up waiting a year for that 10th order to come in.

But bars aren't too much of an issue, we can sort them if we have to.

i was in touch with Hannah at Renntec this morning confirming my order and i quote "The Engine Bars are now in production and should hopefully be
approx 4 weeks."

Rathawk ended up covering a couple of sets which he will selll on to get the order moving i think -

TDM 1991 - two into one micron mated with a A16 Road and Race Supplies Stainless short can - Conti Road Attacks - Kagazume Wavy Rear Disc - Bagster tank cover - homemade sheepskin seat cover on top of custom seat cover - NonFango topbox on homemade mount - custom fusebox - very loud airhorn and cyclone alarm

Hi Beancounter!

sorry, but it's been a long time since I also have the intention of making the center stand for my TDM 850 (2001). Please could I have access to the data you have?

Cheers!

One thing I would mention is that the bottom reinforcement bar (i.e. the one closest to the ground if the bike was on the centre stand) sits very close to the rear tyre.  I seem to recall a bit of bodging was required to make it fit without fouling the tyre but I'm damned if I can remember what bodge we did.

If you're making a stand from fresh I would be tempted to raise that reinforcement bar further up the stand.

I noticed that in a few pics of someone else who had a stand on a MKI, as we'll be making this from scratch it should be well thought out.

Looking at getting the bits that go behind the footrest hangers cut from stainless steel, rather than having to cut them ourselves. Should be interesting, Bit of a summer project really as lots on at the moment. but again, thank you. This is perfect for what we needed.

All being well, they will be made available on here.
