Hello.

I am from Russia. Decided to go on your forum for help. I apologize in advance for my bad English.

I have a problem with the water pump . My bike TDM 900 (2005 year) , running nearly 100 000 km.

Discovered an oil leak behind the pump.  When removed and disassembled pump saw that the problem with the membrane. The membrane is located on the impeller shaft . It comes complete with spring. Rubber dry and cracked , I think this time , grown old rubber.

Found only in the pump assembly. But I think that this membrane is placed on other models of motorcycles Yamaha
separately.

Can anyone faced with this problem and there is a way out of this situation? Do not want to buy the entire pump assembly only because of problems with the membrane .

Thank you for your help.

:welcome:

Your English is great....oi should know cous mine is proper ace. :)

Sorry I don't know if this part is available but someone here most likely will know.  Will be interesting to know as it seems a number of 900's have had water pump failures.

Thank you!

Оn this picture this membrane inside half pump near motor. It is not visible in the picture. I found repair-kit to other bike. There is a similar item in Assortments, but it with a lid. In the upper right corner of the photo link.

I have a Mk2a pump in bits in the shed. I can post the bit your after if you'd like. Although Sutton's doesn't list it as the same pump, they look the same to me.

If it doesn't fit you wont be losing anything, apart from time off the road.

PM your address if you want me to ship it.

Oh! & welcome to the forum.

Hi
Thanks for the answer. You can show your photos pump? If it's from the TDM 850, it is not possible to install at the place of attachment or size.
Do not disassemble it?

Here is a link to our forum in Russia, where there are more photos:

I have both somewhere but not accessable at the mo....found this from a previous thread:

Also the 900 water pump seems to be the exact same unit as the 850's.

There is no part number for the internal pump element alone, but it seems that both 4TX & 5PS share the same part :

- cover O-rings have the same part number, shaft O-ring & circlip too.

- I guess both pump assy have different part number only because the cover part are different.

Very strange that at the service manual have all these items separately. In the picture above it shows. But in the parts cataloogue is only a part of them and don't have this seal separately.

Marketing move from Yamaha? Why sell only seal if they can sell the pump assembly...

Looked at the other bikes Yamaha pumps. Here there is a similar item at the FJR 1300. Part № 4

SEAL, MECHANICAL : YAMAHA

Here is what I have found separately:

But no sidecut.
