Am I right in thinking the xt guards fit on the TDM 900.
if so 660 or 1200?

I've got xtz1200 ones, the bar end needs tapping to fit these,
think its vstrom 650 ones that also fit, a groove needs turning in to the bar end weight for these, dimensions on jbx
think gs 1150 one also can be made to fit, again the bar end needs tapping

Used both Suzuki and (now) GS1150, both work fine, but ( for 20-odd quid) you can put the Touratech "winglets" on top of the GS to give extra protection .
Your hands still eventually still get wet despite this of course, buts its better with than without

I had DL guards, good protection.
I'm thinking XTZ on the new bike, as I don't think they use the pivot bolts as fixing point...

I got the GS1150 ones with the TT winglets, they work very well. About the only good thing BMW made

Had the BMW ones on the last TDMs and fancied a change so I might well jump on the XT ones.
Cheers all.

I got the XTZ's on mine - I found it easier to buy some aluminium bar ends from Ebay and tap them for the bolt.

Do you get all the goodies to get the guards on in the kit? and why not drill the standard ends?

KTM handguards fit the TDM. I took mine off my previous bike (a Versys) and much prefer them to the Acerbis ones I had which were only fixed at the bar end side and vibrated around quite a lot which was distracting,

... or Touratech
Touratech make a very nice locking mount for a Zumo 660 as well, but that's about it, unless other bits they make can be pressed into TDM service.

catte
when you buy the 1200 guard you buy all bits separate, left and right hand guard and left and right brackets,
costs less than £40 total,
part No's are on carpe somewhere thats where I found them
think I just found them
Hand-Guards 23P-26141-00 & 23P-26142-00
Brackets 23P-26224-00 & 23P-26223-00

I could be cynical and say they use decent product design, and doubtless good materials ... ... ... and brilliant marketing.
Spookily, a bit like B**

I think you've received the answer to the first part of your question already (you need to get the parts separately) and I bought separate ends as I thought Aluminium would be easier to tap a thread in and would mean I could put the old bar ends back if necessary.

for info the thread that holds the bar end in the end of the yamaha bar is M16 x 1.5, so you could make your own design with a flat end to suit the bar end. To tap the bar end M8 drill a 6.8mm hole.
There is a formula to calculate the taper you want for those who have access to a lathe.
large dia minus small dia = X
X times 28 divided by the length of the taper gives the angle to set the compound slide.

Got the info for mine from the forum, milled the bar end, fitted the DL guards, love them!

Hmm, that does look the easiest and cheapest option.
