Hi gunes!

My dear fellow countryman of South America, is very welcome to this home.
As for the issue with the ABS, I can not help you because I have no experience with this brake system.

Soon you will have the information with our friends from Carpe, who certainly have lived this experience. :good:
Again be welcome. :drinks:

Cheers!

ABS works on both wheels, if the light is on ABS will not work at all, usually it is the rear sensor that fails due to either rough handling when tyres changed or corrosion in the holder causing an earth short with the sensor.

Yes, front & rear ABS.

ABS issues are usually caused by the ABS sensor not functioning properly : wrong mounting position or broken sensor wiring.

edit : you beat me on this one Rallyist !

Hey RolfieB!

Boy how I managed to do this? :P
As I have not mastered English, sometimes I read the English text and then do the translation via google chrome.

Other times I open already doing the translation via Goolgle Chrome, that's what happened in this case.

And instead of appearing to me Turkey appeared that logically translated as Peru is in South America.
But thank you for alerting me to the error. :drinks:

Lets Turkey where she is, do not intend to move it.
I'll be more careful. First read the original. Then I'll translate.

Sorry, sorry!

Cheers!

blocked ABS unit gives no warning light, the ABS warning light is a defective sensor.

There are problems with the ABS hydraulic unit, if not or not properly changing the brake fluid in this unit.

In the hydraulic unit are valves and Pistons, which block with water and corrosion.

In Germany there are now some of the TDM with ABS where these problems have now occurred.

The ABS unit will not be repaired at Yamaha, but renewed for €2400.

I could give a Word document with images, like the ABS unit is vented properly and a document, such as a faulty fixed someone ABS unit.

Are the documents in German language, and someone(AliG ?)would have to translate them.

Had the ABS light on when riding bumpy roads at so speed. The wheels lift and the rotating speed of the wheels differs. With the ABS light on the ABS stops working however it resets at next engine start and all is well.

2400 Euros for an ABS unit  - - and OEM parts reckon 2660 euros for just the hydraulic unit  - plus another 690 for the electronics !!!!   .........FFS ! .........That makes me feel so much better about the £1500 for the combined electronic & pump unit, plus coding & fitting that I'm having to shell out for the fried ABS/Servo unit on my K1200S !

Seems BMW aren't the only ones that know how to charge !  ;)

I can just about get the economics to work to justify the expense on my 2005  K12 .......but to fork out the best part of £3k on a 2005 must be uneconomical - I can see most owners reverting to a standard set up instead !  ..........unfortunately not an option for mine

A piston is stuck in the hydraulic system you need to buy new not the electronics.
It is enough that remove the hydraulic unit, clean the piston and valves and new special seals for 20-€30 order and carefully build up.
To do this a little paste for brake Pistons.
Inclusive test a job for 10-12 hours. Sometimes, but to raise the piston in a can of WD40.
There are good manual in german, with pictures.

Many retailers and brands make good on expensive spare parts. This is normal, because the procurement of spare parts is expensive and high storage costs arising.
