IXIL used to do a 2-1 for the 900 but you couldn't keep the centrestand. I'm not sure how it affected basic maintenance like oil change etc.
Do they exist and if they do has anyone tried/got one?

He had one because he flogged it - to me.
I also have no centre stand.
I also have a Scottoiler (I don't understand why everyone doesn't use one) and a paddock stand and an EazyRizer lift.
It has no effect on oil changes or other regular maintenance.
Here's a pic of the cross-pipe from the LHS to the right.

Care to shed more on what system you designed and ended up with jiff?
I just like the look of 2-1's more and would be happy to junk my standard system for summat lighter, throatier (not headache inducing) and hopefully less restrictive. But the practical side o' me wants to keep the sidestand and get to the oil plug. Hey ho.

.....or something like that.......and the effect, +ive or -ive, of back pressure,
...& what creates that, & diameter of downpipes.........etc, etc.......
The negative would be possible problems with scavenging. I don't like the look of that connecting pipe in that picture. It's almost at 90 degree's by the look of it, so you end up with a gas flow that simply hits a T junction which stops it dead and it will try to go both directions until the flow from the other cylinder hits it. It should meet the other pipe at an angle, so that it can help 'pull' the gases along and aid scavenging.
Like I say though, may just be the angle of the photo and it's not so bad. Personally I think Mr Yamaha know's more about exhaust design than I do, so I'm happy to leave alone

Very interesting read, cheers.

That I totally agree with however Mr. Yamaha also has to think about emissions, noise, regulations and reliability across multiple markets.
Until I can find something that I know is gonna work reliably, safely and efficiently it's staying as stock.
