As I previously mentioned I've put Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR 120/70-18 and 170/60-17 on my TDM900 .

Now they are tested after 6000km ( 400km off road and more then 500km very mixed bad  roads (stones, gravel, old asphalt)

Tested on dry roads , mud, gravel, stone roads, in the havy rain (temp range fro 3Celsius to 30C). This is during last week trip to Turkey, Bayburt road D-915, Kemaliye tas yolu, ....

This is very very good tyre for all conditions, I would rate them 40% offroad 60% road...more then good enough..and they last , front in moment 5-6mm  rear 7-8mm. So they lost 2-3mm.

Its first tire in that category that fits TDM. For front there is only 120 70 for 18inch wheels. TDM is pure road bike but i always missed option of having tire like that just for the looks and bit robustness. Guess some new motorcycle appeared with exact tires like TDM900 so we can expect maybe more options.

I have wondered if tyre tread pattern is more of a marketing gimmick than an indicator of grip.

Avon Storms rough road with the fat lad on the 900. (England's highest permanently available road).

There is another rough road, a few miles away, that is not recommended for BMW GS riders (too difficult IIRC), but it is easier to ride.......
