Hello all, wondering what people are using for a front sprocket. I have already ordered a poor fitting jt that will not be installed. Just trying to prevent ordering junk again. I have found an afam sprocket with the part number 28401-16. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Your output shaft will be eternally grateful.

AFAM has internal spline profile the same as OEM.

JT has internal spline profile of a 5 year olds drawing.

Sorry don't know AFAM codes.

When you say it was poor fitting, do you mean it flopped about on the output shaft ?

On the later 850 there were two types of sprocket, a wide and a narrow, I made the mistake of ordering the wrong one and thought all JT sprockets were rubbish after that. Depends where you buy from too, some list different dates for the wide and the narrow, I never found a definitive list, only that there are 2 types for 850's

Ohlins, PC3, fuel cut defeat, +4deg timing, 17" front wheel.

It was both too thick for the lock washer to fit, and loose fitting on the shaft. I will proceed with the afam branded one that I found. Hopefully it's the correct spline pattern

I have searched through old threads and found the same advice. I will order some before finishing this "simple chain swap" haha. Should this be used on the threads of the shaft as well, or is loctite 243 the better choice?

Loctite Hawaii 520....ya gorrit dabbers. You dont need to sploodge this stuff. There was helluva debate aboot where to stick it at the time but small amount threads small amount inter should do it. Gentle heat will help when removal required
