Hey peeps

New (ish) TDM owner here asking a wee question about the rear shock. Did I see somewhere that the wilbers rt1200 640-1140-00  fits the TDM or have I just had a lucid and hopeful dream about that?

Looking to upgrade the standard one as is a bit soft for my liking but not sure what fits. I know that there are Hagons and out of my price range olins etc but I have used wilbers before on other bikes and liked it.

thanks

Mark

I had a Maxton shock fitted to my 8504TX and am considering getting another one for my 900. Excellent quality and good customer service.

This might be worth a read…

And this one

Ive very recently put an Ohlins (mt09) shock on mine, much better overall. You’d need to change t he spring though, as the mt spring is way too soft. Fixitsan is your man for info as he’s looked into things properly.

I went with the MT-09/XSR900/Tracer/GT shock because it's a like-for-like fitting process. AND because the S46 Ohlins shock for an MT-09 was over £100 cheaper than the same shock listed for the TDM900 !

And then there's end of life resale value to consider, plus, Ohlins are very easy to rebuild and have serviced, they're just built that way.

Ohlins, PC3, fuel cut defeat, +4deg timing, 17" front wheel.

the standard mt09 shock or the ohlins mt09 shock?

budget wise the standard looks like my option but is it any good?

cheers

Cant comment on the standard one, but they can be bought quite cheaply used with low milage. Ive got the Ohlins on mine. Either way, youd need to change the spring.

I mean the Ohlins ones.

The standard TDM900 shock can be rebuilt, I had mine done when I got the bike, by admittedly an expert who turns up any spare parts on a lathe he cannot buy from wholesalers (he is a renown vintage and classic trials bike shock rebuilder too)
