well has most of you on this site will prob remember last May /June had to rebuild engine pistons etc cause of scored barrels and the rings could be twisted into a chinese puzzle.
Iv done about 12k miles since then,it has been still using oil but not worth worrying about but topping up now and then over a couple of months just to keep it at the top of site glass.End of May went to Cornwall for a few days with high speed blast down the A30 to Redruth thats about 190 miles for me and found i need to top up by about 200cc when i got back home
Now since iv been back and probly done about 1200miles since with a blast upto Oxford last weekend via M4 and A420 i have not had to put in any oil , checked oil when i got home yesterday and it hasnt moved so im keeping my fingers crossed on this.Either the rings have now fully bedded in after 10K+ or maybe i was thinking of changing it and some how the bike knew and decided to correct it self ohmy.gif so i would stop thinking of selling it.
Im going to keep track of this oil situation cause its a habit which one seems to get into whilst riding one of these bikes smile.gif
Now iv also changed the sump cause i cracked the other so im going to see if that makes a diff aswell, one never knows.

How are you measuring the oil level? Don't let it lull you into thinking its not using oil... SELL IT, the damn trickster! If yer boike is not an oil user (a bit like Yeti spotting) and the rings have truly bedded in stopping oil consumption, oil drink a point of pickled onion water.

constant speed cruising at medium to high revs (4000rpm and above) uses more than ragging the tits off it
ie. going up and down the rev range including using the red zone

dont ask me why coz i snots no feckin idea, but its the same on my TDM, XTZ & TRX but to different degrees of consumption

I always check my oil level after iv got home from work about once a week ,i leave the bike for about 5mins then have a look, bike is upright . In the past iv always kept it upto the top of sight glass and if it drops to just above half way down i top it up about every month, but after the Cornwall trip it did need a refill of about 200cc or slightly more.
But since then iv had to put none in cause its stayed at the top of the sight glass.I thought as im going to Oxford and oil is ok i didnt take any where as before id take some just in case i needed it.
So when i got home checked the level after 5 mins and it was still at the top of sight glass to my amazement ohmy.gif

Only one time was it left longer to check level but it was still the same at the top, like i said before i have fitted a diff sump on there now in fact yesterday so going to keep a eye on it see if there is a difference now it got that on and keeping fingers crossed the oil stays at top of sight glass for ever smile.gif
