"Torry, lying on the south bank of the River Dee, was once a Royal Burgh in its own right, having been erected a burgh of barony in 1495. It was incorporated into Aberdeen in 1891, after the construction of the Victoria Bridge, itself made possible by the 1871 channelling of the River Dee which had previously followed an unstable course to the sea. The channelling also enabled further expansion of the harbour."
Mind you this comes from Wiki so it may be a pile of cack.

Well done Landy!
Mix Bermondsey with the Isle of Dogs and add a strong whiff of Lowestoft, reduce to a square mile and serve - on the end of a long pole. Being next to the fish market, the local chipper used to be one of the best (30 years ago) and at about the same time, the pub at the end of the golf links (appropriately enough called "The Nineteenth Hole") had about 120 different malt whiskies on the shelf. Or was it 140 - I can't quite remember...

The cobbles on the road leading past the market to the bridge used to be lethal with slime and nails from broken fish boxes - I well remember that sudden slither as the back tyre blew...

Nice one loon!,
although I think the nineteenth hole has now changed its name and the whisky's have diminished slightly.
Don't forget about the smell of fash fae Torry battery - but that's not fash! LOL
The only cobbles left heading towards Torry are on the bridge. You wouldn't recognise the road from Aberdeen to Torry these days - New Union Square getting built, bus station relocated and new connections to the train station, spy cameras everywhere - and the toon's broke!.
