If I was going to do a ride that long I'd prefer doing a tour of Scotland and the Hebrides or down through the hills of Eastern France

My advice would be to do it on your own - stopping when you need to stop.

There is some usefull advive on the iron butt uk site.

I am considering doing something similar - dont really see the point of riding 1000 miles mostly on a motorway - but I just have to do it.

XT1200Z - Big and bouncy

GTR1400 - Chaufer the wife.
XT660Z - Fun and commute.
TDM900 - Yellow.

Me too, it'd be too long on motorways for my liking I'm afraid, I'd need an arse transplant afterwards blink.gif . Nonetheless, quite an achievement if you can pull it off.

I think the whole point of this is to do it as quick as poss.1 So you then have bragging rights forever saying you did it in less than 24 hrs good.gif

This sounds like top fun.
If we all set off from Lands End at the same time and go like the clappers then, despite some no doubt excitable police, some of us should get through.
Someone will need to sort out a party at John O'G though because we'll all need lots of beer after that.

Let's make it happen...

sounds great, but we need to get a fixed date sooner rather than later, it looks like a 5 day stint may be on the cards. I don't want to go all the way down there and rush back up, would like to do a bit of relaxed clotted cream and scone riding first groucho.gif
I need a sig. indeed with plenty of frickin polish

I think this one will be a come and do you please,

We will have a start time and date, before and after that you do what you want.

I was thinking of riding down say on a Friday, book in a B&B, have a good nights kipp.

Have a relaxing day on the beach, pasty and a shit load of coffee ..... wacko.gif

Set off late Saturday afternoon, bomb it up to the Bonney Scotland, get your card punched or stamped, find a pub, good meal some beers, crash out somewhere. drinks.gif

Home the next day, via ?

One 4 day long weekend, 2 days Holiday / Flexi.

To get the maximum daylight mid June is best up here lads. Don't forget that riding at night will mean lots of stops to de-bug your visors. I quite fancy the idea but wouldn't be able to commit until early next year.
