Thanx for all the effort.

If you are taking requests, could we get a closer look at the suspension linkage and oil filter access please.

Disagreee about shaft drive though....less efficient and when it does go wrong...chances of fixing it in the middle of nowhere......not a lot and very expensive.

Same thing with GS 1200, I think with the new tech few problems would come up. Besides, doesnt it worth taking the chance and getting rid of cleaning and oiling the chain like all the time plus investing into new chain and sprockets?

It looks great, but big and as heavy as it is. The front cowls look to offer better weather protection for the legs than the TDM. The seat looks real plush. But I might just as well be admiring a Ferrari at 15000 euros!

A broken chain or a loose sprocket can destroy an engine block, (seen on TDMs), on the other side, I had a BMW R90S for more than 20 years and all I did was change the rear oil every 10K kms, beside, save a lot of money on not using engine cleaners and degrease sprays to wash bike.
Shaft drives are probably not as efficient as a chain, that's why the are not use on racing bikes, but they sure are a lot more maintenance free and cleaner, wonder why belts are not widely use (other than HD), to me they make a lot of sense as a cheaper alternative to shaft drives

The shaft looks conventional, it doesn't seem to have the extra pivot-points and support-bars like the Guzzi and BMW's "Paralever". That probably makes it stronger and lighter and it seems quite long but I wonder how neutral such a setup will be under acceleration and decelaration with long suspension travel like that? Ah well, it's Japanese so it will probably work magically well without all the overhead

I had only owned shaft driven bikes for many years because I always believed that this was the only way forward when using a bike every day all year round. Then I got my first chain-driven bike with X-ring chain and Scottoiler and discovered that chain is a perfectly fine alternative with suprisingly little maintenance. It's more neutral too, suspension is more precise and responsive because of lower weight and rear-brake usually works better on chain-driven bikes too (not sure why though, maybe it was just the particualr bikes I have owned). Chains are perhaps a little messy and noisy though. I really like my Buell's belt, always a little worried if/when it will snap although that has nver happened so far (knock on wood

BMW would like you to think that but the US mag Motorcyclist put a fully fueled R1200GS on its own scales and it was 247kg.
