Yup this makes sense to me. Unless we can somebody local to lead the organisation and negotiations for a unique event.
Lets join up with the Megatref, maybe we can get a TDM section or something orgnised there?

But a ride out to Germany and some touring en-route sounds flipping awesome to me!

So I'm in!

How comes there is not a word about this change on Ouestleskeum? Aren't they the organiser?

Yesterday they were still adding people to the list of participant and there was no mention of a change of venue. I refrained to post anything on the French forum. You know how prompt the French can be to start a revolution and to erect a guillotine rolleyes.gif

We are still looking for an other solution and didn't give up. We will come back with an alternative solution but need time to decide and work on it.

the TDM forum megatreff is a TDM meet, but like most events other models are welcome also

as mentioned above to organise an event of this size needs a team of people on the ground in the area hosting the event
carpe meets are generally much smaller than the euro-mainland country meets and so we dont have the same issues they have

the folks on the German TDMforum are extremely good at organising large events, they do it every year
either way it'll keep going......

Sorry if this seems a silly question, but what is the organising problem, is it arranging the ferries or stop overs. Im guessing the local club to this event will have campsite, b&b etc sorted.

Robbo65,

the problem has been, what we wanted to happen had to be coordinate between an international group, the plans we were making called for a strong local presence to the location, which was not forth coming.

There was no local group.

What we are doing now is trying to get a local group to host it in their area.

Hope you can come to it.

Cheers, Ivan.

Missed this thread last week.

Having gone over to the German Megatreff a couple of years back with Tony, Dannyboy and Saga Lout I'd have to say it was a very well organised event with fantastic roads and a really nice bunch of people. The year we went had something like 140 TDM's plus some other bikes, with people staying in hotels, a bunkhouse, or camping. If they're happy to turn a Megatreff in to a 20th anniversary Euro meet I say let them do it as they'll make a bloody good job of it. I appreciate that there's a lot of people in other countries who would like to have a say in the organisation, but as you say it really needs people who know the area to sort stuff out.

I think we are doing it Martin.

We just need to keep the interest up and to show the organisers that we will put on a good attendance.

There will be Carpe-TDM 2€11 tee shirts for us, I will organise that one.

Would need to be a big boat laugh.gif , i am a partner with a touring company and have some links with a couple of ferry companies, but given the possible size of this meet and various departure points required makes it a tuff one. Plus riders in Ireland will need to use two ferries unless they head South first. No now youve explained it to me i agree you are facing some tough oranising. Are Yamaha themselves getting involved, given its the TDM anniversary

Your contacts might come in handy if we can organise a block booking for the Ferry, Also its the ideal meet up point. good.gif

Apparently one of the group did contact Yamaha Europe but they we not interested, probably it was a bad time to ask.

Once we have a venue, a group to organise and deffo numbers, they might take it serious.
