Replacement rear wheel

I am wondering about changing the rear wheel on my mk2 for a wider item. Has anyone had any experience of this mod? Is there anything out there that will fit straight in? I read in here somewhere that someone fitted a Bandit 600 rear wheel, is this easy?
If it is too difficult I may not bother.
All now a fond (very fond) memory. Maybe again some day.

Main Q is why you wanna larger rim?

Although you changing the front for 17" hoop, you shouldn't have to change the rear I'd a thought.....

Fazer wheel is too wide, bin there tried it also a Fazer swingarm is too wide the TDM has what looks like two spacers as part of the frame that narrows at the swingarm bolt by ecaxtly the same width as would be needed to fit the swingarm

If it is really wide won't you run into chain alignment problems ( as the 4cyl X11 motor is wider ) ?????????? depending on cost etc may be better looking at an after mkt dedicated TDM swingarm ?

As you know I have the 17incher for the front which has a wider rim. I have started a thread hereabouts asking if there would be any stability issues.
I have heard that there is room to fit wider tyres to the stock rim but I would not want to distort one to make it fit.
Basically I was just wondering how easy it would be to fit a wide rim to counter the increased width at the front ie bigger footprint front and back.
