Hello All,

Finally joined up after lurking around for a while. I must congratulate you all on a great site dedicated to a great bike.

I've been looking around with an idea to buy another 'main' bike and can't seem to improve on what I have, unless I go for a 9er (?). Not sure that will suit me as well for bimbling around the back lanes, I do enjoy the 360 crank engine. I am looking for a test ride on one and a F800 and my mate is lining up a go on a victory, as you can tell I am pretty open-minded.

I will be asking a few questions as I renovate the 'triffid' (no oil = no big-end) once I have sorted this posting malarky, like where can I source rings at a reasonable price?

Cheers for now.

bike went down on right side....shroud is cracked($450 painted with logo) muffler is scratched (got pair of orig new cans on ebay the other day for $140 but havent heard from seller yet). the nacelle has small scrape so will get new one later..rego is now a blue slip, no worries there, but bike will alway carry stigma of repaired write off...put the dirt bike rego label on it and rode it round the block and it was less than inspiring..handled weirdly and really hard to ride smooth(jerky on off)....took the bars off thinkingbent and tried to go fat bars but couldnt get the right sweep....had a closer look at orig bars and nothing wrong with them so put them back on....checked comp and got 220 on both so went with iridium plugs ....removed air box vacuum and checked sync..all good...destressed triple clamp and lowered front end....took it for a ride..engine much betterpulls really hard early now but still not good handling.....front tyre looked new but on closer inspection had wear line off centre (typical road camber wear) so rang bike shop for tyre....got the old story..too bad its not a 17 i could give you a pair of p2 for $390 but now youre going to have to wait.....so went to wreckers and bought a r6 front .....so here i am now waiting for net wend (i work up the coast all wek) to see ifbike finally right.....cant rego till shroud comes in...btw i ordered a centre stand and boewulfs for it too....im going to have some fun....russ p.s. paid$3200 for bike 02 with 42k if i knew how to add a pic i would

Looks tidy from that side. Might be worth checking theres no play in the head and wheel bearings or the fork bushes if your getting some front end weirdness.

Hi from a new member.......I bought my 1998 TDM off ebay last year from NI and now have it in sunny Bulgaria. It has R1 front brakes and a Laser stainless 2:1, otherwise standard. I'm generally very happy, but am frustrated by a few problems, mainly around rough running below 4000rpm although it seems perfect above that. I'm trying to solve that with my Bulgarian mechanic and reading forum posts........

Todays question is around the new chain and sprocket kit just fitted - now it does 78 mph on the clock at 5000 rpm, which I think is undergeared compared to the old set (unfortunately thrown away b4 I could count the teeth, ahem). Any ideas gratefully received......

Cheers

Max

Rough running might be worn emulsion tubes that need replacing. Try search for emulsion smile.gif
