I posted a while back about fitting a power socket (USB) on my 9er so I could use my iPhone as a sat nav.

Well believe it or not the job is now done (ok so I took a couple of months to think about it).

Anyway I think Studley was interested in how I eventually achieved above work of wonder so I've attached a couple of pics.

I mounted the socket inside the right fairing using the substantial fairing mounting lug. The socket is as out of the weather as it's ever gonna be and can be reasonably got at if the bars are turned to the left.

For power I fitted a piggy back connector to the right ignition coil (live) and used the frame for neutral.

And voir la it works!

No I didn't Stud as I thought the power take off of a USB would be next to nowt. (I did use a relay for my heated grips but that's another story :-))

I MIGHT fit an in-line fuse before going to France but even that might be going a bit OTT.

If fact I'm just going out now to try the iPhone sat-nav (NAVMII) on the bike using earphones. The good thing about NAVMII is that all the map data is downloaded (free) into the phone so you can turn off data roaming and it still works - that's what the bloke said anyway........

I always thought an iBike was required when you need to charge an iPhone...
