Last time I rode my bike I kept forgetting sixth gear or tried to change up when i was already there. Done abit of research and came up with several with conflicting reviews.

So I've invested in a Daytona Nano II lcd gear indictator with a big display so I can see it.

I'll let you now how I get on with fitting  :um:  when it gets here.

you just have to locate the engine speed signal and the gearbox sensor signal and then give it power.

I want to do a step by step guide with pics of how to do it. Once you know which wires to tap into it should be fairly easy.

I had one died for a while but found I wasn't using it or when I did I didn't believe it and still tried for 7th.
These days I have a rough table in my head so a glance at the speedometer and rev counter tells me what heart I'm in.

I fitted one that uses the same connection method that JBX shows in his site - he built one using LEDs but mine has the numbers. Cost me a couple of quid for the gear indication plus a bit of cable to connect. I too kept forgetting about the last gear.

I watched a Youtube video recently, where someone used an led between each whole digit of the rev counter to indicate gears, so the digits 1,2,3,4,5 had a bright LED behind each one which lit up in a different colour to the backlighting. I thought that was a neat idea, but it means hacking into the back of the rev counter.

Not the one I saw but this one is roughly the same idea

A guy round here at Carpe did that, too. Installed LEDs in tacho, using the numbers for indicating. Searched, but no find, though.

We both did one.

Made the modifications ourselves without buying anything more technical than some blue + green leds, 6 core wire and some ferrules to set the leds in.

Mine still performs rock solid after 20ish months.

Actually, truth is, mine was mostly made from Rolfs' leftovers, so cost effectively feck all.

(goes off to search for Rolfs' video, might be in my PM folder)

found this, but it appears the photos have moved on

I had one on the TDM and it was good. Speed signal is easy enough Lee. Left hand panel off and tap in near the ECU. Solder and seal is best! Can't remember the colour though.

I'll be looking forward to seeing that Lee if you go ahead and do it. I'll feel a little more confident about doing it myself then

Remember seeing some details on this where the signals to the lights were taken direct from the gear change indent or some such.

Often thought of doing this for just a 5th or 6th idiot light as I don't really need to check lower gears in traffic etc. It's just that "where's all that fuel gone " feeling, and finding I've been in 5th at 75mph for the last 50 miles while listening to AC/DC on full chat!!

Lock onto my co-ordinates and beam me up !!

04 900 - 92 mk 1 - r 1150 rs - Z550 A1 - 2x bonnies - plastic slug -XL185 - ...not in that order !! (and one or two i don't want / dare to own up to !!)

The Nano II has arrived, :)  I have to say I'm impressed, waterproof connectors provided so you can disconnect it from your bike when you have soldered the connections into the loom.  :good:

Delving into the forum it seems Ivan wrote a good how to on fitting a DG8 way back,, this is no different.

I am thinking of replacing my accumen with one of these Nanos. What do you think of yours Lee, and is it the same wiring.
I have a Mk.2 850.
Thanks
