Wot we dun yesterday and the day before.

Too tired and too pissed to post on Tuesday and just too tired last night (but completely sober - too tired to drink!). Tuesday we went on a gentle-ish bimble to Killarney for a leisurely lunch at Muckross House followed by the drive up to Moll's Gap (twisties and views) and then down Priest's Leap into the Black Valley and over the Gap of Dunloe on roads that I imagine few of the guys would have experienced before. Lots of pics were taken and Catsbum did a video of the descent. There will be lots of these up when people get home I guess. Finally over another single track mountain pass with suicidal drops and back to Castlegregory and a musical night thanks to Marky Mark, Pete Kelly and Carol (our resident masseuse) which included too much drink in Neds. Mrs TeDeum rode pillion on a bumpy day.

Yesterday was a tour of my favourite roads. Castlegregory to Killarney to the Kenmare road is fast with some sweepers. The Kenmare road via Kilgarvan is quick with a mixture of twisties and sweepers. The best chocolate cake in the world was consumed in Kenmare (pics were taken and I'm sure PK will have a complete page of a post to describe this). Then the roads got good. The climb from Kenmare to the tunnel at the top of the pass is not straight for more than 50m anywhere and the views are wonderful - if you can take your eyes off the road. Through the tunnel and you are into County Cork with stunning views of Bantry Bay and a quick, very twisty descent to Glengarriff. The road from there to Bantry is similar but flatter. Lunch and then back to Glengarriff making the left into the Beara Peninsula and up the Healey Pass which is positively alpine with hairpins stacked three high in places and, due to the rain, the waterfalls and torrents were the best i have ever seen them. Back to Kenmare and up to Moll's Gap from the other side which is another twisty climb. Down to Killarney and back to Castlegregory in torrential rain. The pics will tell it all eventually.

When we were at Kenmare I called Mrs TeDeum as she was too sore to travel with us. She had gone to the doctor and been told that she had three or four broken ribs from where I had chucked her down the road on Sunday and would take up to 8 weeks to heal. Imagine how good that made me feel. So she was a hero for doing a full day as a pillion in this condition and I am a zero for doing it to her.

Some truly magnificant twisties, Chris. Almost worth living in Kerry for tongue.gif rotflmmfao.gif

On my solo return through the rain and low clouds I think I saw a sign naming it as the Caha Pass.
