I am thinking of replacing my accumen with one of these Nanos. What do you think of yours Lee, and is it the same wiring.
I have a Mk.2 850.
Thanks

it works ok but take your rpm signal from the earthy side of one of the coils. I originally used the crank sensor grey wire but in the 900 it reads x 10, so pulses too fast.

The coil wire you want in a yam is orange with green stripe.

Looks nice and big with water proof plugs so you can take it off easily when you have wired the other part of the plugs into the loom. The lcd is quite big and backlit with led. Not road tested it yet, that takes place tomorrow.

Thanks for that please let me know how it performs.
I read about the Accumen the faster the pulses the faster it works ??????

well 1200 rpm on me niner resulted in 12,000 pulses so the rpm display at idle went up to the top and stayed there, obviously wrong, so I went to the other recommended sense point, the coil. On the stand it seemed to detect gears fast, but a proper road test is needed.

road test completed and it works ok. However the sticky pad that sticks the unit to the mount is less than er sticky enough, a shame because the unit itself is very good. I'll be getting some of that super velcro for it.

Does it change quickly both up and down? And how does it give a gear change indication?
Thanks

changes very quickly and gives indication of revs for change point if you set it up. It's a big back lit lcd very clear on the handlebar

We both did one.

Made the modifications ourselves without buying anything more technical than some blue + green leds, 6 core wire and some ferrules to set the leds in.

Mine still performs rock solid after 20ish months.

Actually, truth is, mine was mostly made from Rolfs' leftovers, so cost effectively feck all.

(goes off to search for Rolfs' video, might be in my PM folder)

found this, but it appears the photos have moved on

http://www.carpe-tdm...=29672&p=293431

Nuts! I had a bit of a deleting session of photos. Have to see if I've got one squirreled away on the laptop.

Can someone tell me how this is done. I think I understand the principles but not the detail like where do I find the gear selector switch? I take it one of the photos is of diodes, where do they go?
I am not an electrical engineer as you can tell from my name, but I am not a complete numpty either.
I fancy having a play with this.
The more info. the merrier

I think I read somewhere that the 850 has gear position switching of some form within the gearbox, but the 900 doesn't. That needs confirming

If you have a 900 the only way to do it is with a commercial gear change system. It compares the engine revs to the wheel speed and that produces a ratio value, which infers the gear which is being used.  Most of them self learn the ratios being used, the self learning ability means you can change sprocket ratios and it will just relearn the new ratios to use.

The niner can use the same neutral sensor plate plate as the 850 so this could be done with analogue contacts but a gear module is cooler and easier

The gear selector switch is behind the front sproket on the 850 not sure about the 900 think the switch may be there but might not have all the contracts on it but done quote me. Will see if I can find the reference material I used to do mine have had a quick look but nothing yet
If I find it I'll post it here

neutral switch plate is in same place on a niner but you have to take off the speedo sensor and all that first.

FWIW

It isn't just a "neutral sensor" plate, at least where the Mk2 is concerned

There are wires to sense whether the bike is in first or second, that run back to the icu as well.

I imagine there are some ignition shenanigans going on in the lower gears, alongside the throttle opening sensor that together, go towards making things more rideable.

Advance / retard.

I'll post a vid of my 1-N-2-3-4-5 led arrangement when the opportunity arises sometime over the next couple of weeks.

Here's that rev counter/gear indicator thing I have going on my Mk2 that I promised for you

I managed to get neutral gear on the 3rd attempt, warming up after an oil and filter change.

Thanks for that. So far I have done the neutral switch bit I am on to the dashboard now.
It's also cost me a new gasket for the side casing, a new front sprocket, a new chain and a new dash infill panel. I don't do things by halves. I must have the most pampered 850 on the planet.
